I have had nothing but problems with this MFC. If you are unlucky enough to buy one, don't expect help from the manual.

I can't stand this printer

All the reviews were GREAT - and after much research I went with this printer which has been a big mistake.
It constantly JAMS...even if there is NO JAM to be found - it stops printing and I have to go through this process of taking out each cartridge and there will be nothing in there/no jammed papers...I have no idea why this is happening. If one color cartridge is low it won't print - even if you just want to make a black or mono copy, and I've had two Brother printers that "curl" the paper so you don't want to use it for hand-outs because it doesn't lay flat...which I bought this printer so I could do mailings...postcards, cards, fliers...the color does look great but it takes a HUGE amount of time to get anything to print that isn't on 'standard white paper' - jams and etc...
I have 4 printers and the best one has been my husband's $20 inkjet HP-- not the canon or either of the two Brothers that I have.

We've had our printer for approx. 4 months. Overall I have been satisfied with the product. We did have to replace the ink already which surprised me because I thought it would last longer than it did. (although, it lasted longe than my old printer would have) and we did have a piece of paper get stuck in the printer which created about 1/2 hour of wasted time but, that we little bit of paper was in the printer, and the machine kept telling us that it was. I would by this product again.

The all-in-one we purchased has the worst print ever. As long as I use black print,...and I mean print, it is fine. I am a teacher and use lots of color graphics, within my classroom. I have to switch back and forth to my older HP all-in-one, to print in color. (very time consuming-using a thumb drive). I have been so dissapointed in THIS product, my hubby won't even tell me what he paid for it. He just sees my anguish and tells me "I got what I paid for". How sad...

Best Purchase Ever

We purchased this to supplement our injet, it does an excellent job in all categories. it is a little slow but I am upgrading the memory to speed it up. it does not print pictures like the injet but is not a photo printer. It is more economical and easier to use than our H.P.injet. We got it at Costco on a special buy$$$

An Exceptional Small Business All-in-One

The MFC-9120CN is a breeze to configure. Network scanning is completely straightforward and it took a total of about 2 minutes to figure out how to set up the machine to receive faxes through my company's VOIP phone system.
After about 4 months of steady use I would recommend this machine to anyone looking for a trusty multi-function laser printer. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent Home busines printer

This printer has turned out to be a very reliable and hard working printer for my home office and business. It pretty much handles any thing we throw at it from faxes to high end graphics. For a ink-jet it is very economical to operate. My only con to the printer is the LCD screen could be larger to make it easier to read. Other then that I give this unit 5 stars.

Great

I love the printer. It is rather slow on the warm up but that doesn't particularly bother me. My main complaint is that when printing envelopes, they come out slightly wrinkled and sloppy looking (the printing is fine, I just don't like that they are wrinkled and curved). Additionally, there are several different options for scanning which can be confusing until you decide exactly what you want to use. I don't use the fax machine so I can't speak to that.

I bought the MFC-9120CN Digital Color All-in-One With Fax and Networking on 12/2009. In four months I brought this machine to warranty repair shop two times: 1. printing board was changed because printout gave blurring column in the middle of the page. After replacement printout was excellent. 2. New cartridge was not recognized by machine. After some board was replaced it works normally. This machine is a very easy to manage, networking, use, it would be very good if those problem would be solved.

Great All-In-One; Adequate software

I like the Brother products and have a bunch of them in my home and office.
The MFC-9120CN is excellent, fast and accurate. a good sturdy printer/scanner. It's my mainstay office printer, I use every day. I'll buy a second one in a heartbeat when I need one. I have used both the USB and the network connections. All good. For my business, I use the printer and scanner, not the fax.
I give it 4 stars because the control software for the scanner is clunky, my only complaint. But I scan in b/w & color, single- and multi-page to PDF routinely and with no problems. Can scan to TIFF, JPEG, etc, too. Would be nice if the software were as elegant as the printer itself.
ANother excellent Brother product. I'm happy.

this has got to be the worst machine I've ever had. If I get 800 copies per black toner I would be surprised. I've had the machine 2 months and used 3 black toners. I've had no luck with the supplier as now I hear comments like what is your coverage per sheet. If it was 30% it would be about a paragraph. I'm not happy at all and the supplier just keeps bringing me more toner which I'm concerned will end when the warranty does.

I like it!

I've never bought Brother products before, but bought this all-in-one on the referral of the IT company I use. They said it is sturdy and economical.
I really like it -- it offers all the features I wanted for my business, and I enjoy using it. At first I was a little intimidated with the huge cartridges and figuring out how to use it; but the features and cartridge installation turned out to be very simple. I haven't yet used the fax; but the printing, copying, and scanning are so easy!
The only drawbacks would be that it prints very slowly and the colors are a little off. But for my needs, it is awesome!

Love this printer for printing color and black and white forms, letters, etc. HOWEVER, printing an envelope is another matter. I can't tell you how many times it "jams" and there isn't a jam. The automatic document feeder has been great, I have problems with this feature on other laser printers.

Great Printer

To date, this is by far one of the best printers I have ever owned. Getting hooked up to my network has been a little tricky, but it has been just as easy for me to just bring my laptop to the printer location and plug it in with the supplied cable. I had gotten so tired of my inkjet printers having problems with the cartridges going dry before I ever got full use out of them. This laser printer has been top-notch. It is easy to set up and easy to use. And all the functions make my life so much easier. I would definitely recommend this printer to any one.

Bought to replace DoD printer which had a bad scanner. Very pleased with the Brother as it is quiet, fairly fast and the cartridges are reasonably priced compared to other mfgs. Will definitely consider Brother for future IT needs.

It might have been . . .

the best printer in the world, but it has a huge flaw. It is not completely compatible with Mac Snow Leopard 06X. With Mac's browser, Safari, the Brother printer cannot SELECT part of an article and print it. It prints the whole thing, even, it seems, if that means 20 pages of unwanted material.
I asked customer service to please not tell me that this expensive printer could not SELECT on Mac. They wrote back that this was true. The printer could not select with Safari. I found this so awful, that I considered demanding my money back. Then I told myself that Brother would fix this flaw soon.
The printer is dazzling otherwise, but when Brother advertises the printer as Mac compatible, they are not telling the whole truth. This seems unethical. A potential buyer should be given the chance to decide whether or not she wants a printer that is otherwise great, but when printing online, cannot print only part of a long article.

Thank you for your purchase and review of the MFC-9120CN. The drivers for this model meet all of the standards set for Mac OSX 10.6.x. and are certified by Apple. The feature you are describing is not part of the printer driver standards set by Apple. The ability to select portions of a web page and print the selected items from Safari would require a plug-in for Safari or an application. There are plug-ins such as Print Selection Service available on the web as well as other applications on the market with this ability. When used with the MFC-9120CN you would be able to print the items you selected.
If you do not want to use a plug-in for Safari or an application, Safari has the ability to select the text of an article on a web page and pint only the text with no images or additional advertising. This will depend on the web page but when you select an article look at the top of the page where the URL is listed. There is a button that will change from RSS to Reader if the article you are viewing supports this ability. If you click on the Reader button you will get just the text from the article that you can print.

The copier prints beautifully, but I have printed a few thousand color brochures. I fiqured out my cost based on the 1500 copies they said it would do per expensive cartridge and I only got 500 to 600 per cartridge. It uses a lot of toner. 3 times the cost advertised
