If you are buying this for printing capabilities pick another model. This by far is the worst printer of the last ten models we've owned. It uses an extraordinary amount of ink. Fine as a fax however. Developer was not a user right now in cleaning mode as I am trying to make copies.

Wireless setup STINKS!

Incredibly complicated (many "clicks" and questions asked... most of which make no sense to me because I'm not a network engineer, just a dude trying to scan stuff) wireless setup. After completing setup instructions it says "Connected". But soon as I try to do anything is complains "Check Connection!" Jeezus! Why is it that my iPhone only asks "do you want to connect to..." and for the password and BANG, you're connected. Why does Brother make it so darn complicated?

Terrible telephone reception

I have a lot of distortion when I am speaking and hearing on phone. I have owned the printer since December 1, 2009. The sound was adequate at first, gradually worsened until the phone is no longer useful. Even phone messages are very difficult to understand when I listen to them. No instructions in the handbook on how to fix this problem. I bought this model because it had a phone and it's an important part of my use of this printer. So I can't recommend on this basis. It's a pity, as the rest of the printer works extremely well.
