Great hope it last as long as the model before it

Bought this even thought it was more money than other brand names. Two reasons the prior model lasted over 6 years and customer service is wonderful.

So far we have two issues with the printer:
1. The fuser temperature is high enough that if letterhead from another laser is used the letterhead colors melt and smear.
2. The printer is being used with a USB connection and not on the network. When installed this way the printer does not wake up from sleep/deep sleep without a power cycle or a manual reset of the USB cable.

I have wanted a duplex printer for a long time. when this came along I couldn't resist.
Zero installation or setup problems
Fast sharp output.
status monitor tells me remotely when it's out of paper.
Brother utility lets me print from my Anroid phone and tablet.
This is my third Brother printer. The first two still work great.

The Brother HL-5450DN is a very excellent printer. The print quality is amazing. The printer prints really fast. The Brothe brand has always been at my work place and is a good product.

Very easy set-up. Print and graphics are excellent. Does two sided printing very quickly. I used the enclosed software on my I-Mac but couldn't get it to print PDFs two sided.

Best Buy Printer

We had an older Brother Laser that finally gave out and when researching a replacement, found the 5450DN and purchased it... The printing speed is great and the fact that it does 2-sided printing without the need to take out and replace the printed sheets is an added PLUS. I think this is the best buy for the money you will find.

Excellent Laser Printer

Most of my printing is B&W and I prefer high speed: quick first page and a healthy page rate (pages per minute) after the first page. Among the laser printers, this is by far the best.
Very quick delivery of the first page in less that 9 seconds. When it runs a long job it delivers 40 pages per minute. Excellent paper handling. Lots of features.

Forced Replaceable Parts

Best inexpensive printer ever. But Brother FORCES you to change your toner - even though it still prints fine with the old one. There's a work around (using white out on the toner's sensors), but for the Drum, which costs nearly as much as the printer, there's no work around! You can reset the counter, but it still jams up! I used to get 125,000 prints from a toner that Brother said ran out after 25,000. But no more. So although the up front cost is minimal for the printer, you'll end up paying through the nose by the time you're done.

Great printer

We wanted a good, basic laser printer to replace a second ink jet in our home office. We were tired of the expense, maintenance, and slow performance. The HL-5450DN was rated well on line and available at Costco. It is a bargain! Very low price, modest profile, small foot print, fast start up, and lighting fast duplex printing. Didn't need the wireless version for iOS devices as the Printopia app takes care of that. Very happy with this keeper.

Exactly what I needed

I bought this printer to get the airprint feature. It replaces an older Brother laser printer. It installed easy and worked from my PC but not airprint. The problem was not the new Brother but my router that needed a firmware update. After the router update the HL-5450DN airprint worked perfectly. I also like the duplex printing that was not on my older printer. It is also much faster than the older printer.

Very Impressive Printer & Support

After using a competitor's postscript laser printer for the past seven years, it once again came time to replace the high capacity toner cartridge once again. After realizing that I needed to spend almost twice as much for the cartridge and the cost of purchasing this printer, I decided to give the Brother HL-5450DN a try. I have only had this printer for two weeks, and I have to say that it has done everything very well so far. Very quiet and quite fast. Copies are very good. Not quite reproduction quality, but for this price point, I didn't expect that. So far, so good. Customer service walked me through the setup and were very helpful. All in all, it's been a pleasure to deal with Brother.

Really like this printer. I feel it will be of great value in my Mobile Notary Public - Signing Agent business. Especially in printing both letter and legal size pages for document packages. It is part of the wireless network in my home which is a valued convienence.

Great Printer

This printer is networked to two WIN7 computers via a wireless router which also has ethernet connections. One computer is connected to the router via wireless and the other is hardwired. The connection from the router to the printer is of course via ethernet cable. The setup was easy and straight forward. The printer is fast with good print quality. The duplex feature is especially nice.

Very slow getting replacement cartridges

It seems we go through the toner cartridge really fast even though we use the high yield TN 750. The stores here do not stock the toner cartridge and when we order them, they get put on back order. Very frustrating! We have had to divert printing to a different printer which is very inconvenient for those who use the Brother. Our Brother HL-5450DN has been sitting idle for a week and a half waiting for toner!

nice simple printer

needed a new printer, and i read reviews about brother printers, so i decided on a laser jet machine
this model hl-5450dn is quiet, and has great ink printing graphics. it's only black and white ink, but i really didn't want a color printer. if you don't want lots of bells and whistles, then this is a nice simple printer at a good price
