Almost perfect............except for the toner.

This printer fits our office needs perfectly since it combines copy/scanner function with laser printer w/o fax. Copies and print out is nice and clear, but we could use fast print speed though.
Major drawback is the toner, Brother implemented a mechanical page counter so it will stop printing completely even though there are plenty of toner left in the cartridge and no way to reset it.

Great low price Laser Printer

Have small home office, this is the perfect printer, copier, scanner. Also have Brother MFC420CN which if need color printing I will still use. Laser printer easy to set up, wireless great for others in home to connect to. Going to enjoy not having to replace color ink cartridges every month or so.

Great printer

Got an HL-2280DW about two weeks ago, after seeing it on sale. I love this printer! Wireless setup was very easy, except that our network key was too long for the display on the printer. Had to enter last part 'blind' but it worked OK. There may be a workaround for this but I didn't find it. Otherwise, getting it to work with four different computers (two XP, two Windows 7 64-bit) was a breeze. Instructions are very clear. Love the duplex printing, multiple pages per side, and speed. Can't imagine getting a better or more capable printer for the money. I'm hooked!

This is a high quality product with an easy wireless setup. If you need the duplex feature, it is a great purchase. If duplex is not needed, the 2270DW is also a very good machine and uses less space.

Best customer service in USA

I got this printer last week and having a tough time connecting the printer with my wifi router using Windows 8. Called customer support and the agent was very helpful and patient. She walked me through step by step, explaining everything in details and after 30 minutes, It was done. Best customer service I ever received here in USA. For this simple reason, I am now the most loyal fan of brother products. now about the product, I briefly used the printer and everything looks perfect, from print to copy to scan. Could not be more happier.

I've always used HP printers. This Brother is a nice, welcome change up for me. Consumer reports recommended it and it has low cost per page printing-- one of my main screening criteria. This printer was easy to setup, except for the fact that it's the first printer I've ever bought that didn't have a USB cord. I had to wait another day to use it until I could get a cord bought. Other than that, I am very happy with the features and performance of this printer.

The HL-2280Dw was a fortunate find after my trusty old Brother Laser printer fell victim to a lightening strike. Based on my past experience with a Brother printer I expected this to be just as good and was not disappointed, I'm glad to find the scanner is good enough to replace my current scanner, which was having problems with Windows 7. Duplex printing has turned out to be a real convenience. At the price you can't beat this machine.

I purchased a Brother HL-2280DW laser printer.
I replaced my other HP color laser printer with it because the toner cartridges were very expensive. I also have a Brother MFC-440CN printer to do my color printing. So far I like the HL-2280DW very much. I like the Duplexing, the easy copying and scanning and wireless features. I also like the standby. I keep my printer on all the time and it is ready when ever I have to print. I highly recommend this printer.

Great machine but have question

I really enjoy this small machine in my home-based business office but have one question. Following a print operation the machine hums for about 8 to 10 minutes before going silent. Is this necessary or is there a means of eliminating this? I see nothing about it in the guide and it is a bit annoying in my small and quiet office.

Not an all-in-one

I bought this printer to replace my Lexmark wireless all-in-one which went through ink like crazy. After I got the HL-2280DW home I discovered it has no fax capability! I should have returned it but I have to admit I love this printer. Easy to set up; fast printing/copying; wakes up quickly; auto-duplexing - so I'm keeping it.

A very Good Printer

The ink cartridge does not yield the amount that is printed on the box. Otherwise I am very happy with it. The printed doucument is very clear and the output (speed) is wonderful)

Best printer choice we ever made

OK, so nothing is absolutely perfect, but this printer and its software install and perform so much better than our previous printers, which were mostly HP. As someone has already mentioned, the wireless setup could be a little clearer, but it took less than an hour including coffee and cigarette time, so yeah. Ever since, printing and networking have been flawless. Only thing that would make it better is auto duplexing, but I chose not to pay for that, so I'm happy with what we've got! Further, the software doesn't drag down boot-up time like the HP stuff. Next time I need a printer, it will be a Brother.

I am really enjoying using this great printer. I could have skipped the wireless feature, and selected a different Brother printer. For I attached it to my Ethernet system. This allows me to print from several different locations. The printer is always available on my network and wakes up to print when needed. The duplex function works very well. Slightly oversized documents can be printed, but I wish it did accommodate even larger documents which could be reduced to 8 1/2 x 11. Ink use and print quality is excellent on this printer. My hope is that Brother will continue to support this printer with drivers into the future. I had bad experience with another company which stopped support after 3-4 years.

Toner low warning too early/life very short

I used to love Brother printers, but not sure if i do anymore. I had an old HL-2070N that works awesome. Toner life as reported estimated by Brother over a lot, i mean a lot of printing. It is still running great at a friend's house.
So. 2280DW. Toner low warning way too early. Starter toner went on about 400 pages. regular report nothing fancy. Had to search for a long time to find a way to ignore the warning. it finally went very light until about 580 pages. OK. i can take it for a starter toner.
I brought the high capacity toner. TN-450. Genuine from Amazon directly, not 3rd party dealer. It has all of the right seals. Low toner light came and the printer's online web interface showed 4 out of 10 on low. what! it is not there yet. the light came on at 1050 or so pages (according to the page counter). so that's about 600 pages actual printed for a HIGH capacity toner that is rated for 2400 pages? I am doing averaging printing. so the toner won't last me for 1000 pages by this rate. according to other online. this is a common problems.
I can see Brother want to tell the user, prepare for a new toner, but i think quality control may be an issue. I understand you don't want to run the toner till dry, but i have been using laser printer at work/school/home for a long time, and there is rarely a problem if you replace it when it is light.
I have other Brother printer with a leaking toner (genuine) that the customer service was pretty much useless and rude.
Bottom line. I am a bit upset about the cost of the toner with such a short life that is not even half of what was advertised. I know company makes their money on toner/ink, so just be cautious. I may try a generic or Staple/OfficeDepot brand to see how it will last.

I'm very satisfied with the HL2280DW.
I was looking for an efficient b/w duplex laser printer with a copy feature.
I was initially concerned about reviews that I read mentioning loud idle noise and annoying scanner software popup adds. However, based on positive experience with earlier Brother products, I decided to take a chance.
I'm very glad I did because the printer works great, the duplex printing is super. The included scanning software exceeded my expectations. Also I find the printer to be very very quiet (especially while in standby) and NO POPUP ADDS.
Great printer, great buy!!! Highly recommended.
